About Naomi

Naomi is a Transpersonal Art Therapist, Artist, Poet, and Teacher. She currently offers Transpersonal Art Therapy sessions for all ages and facilitates art therapy groups in the community.

Naomi is passionate about using creativity as a tool for self-awareness, expression, and growth. She first discovered her love for helping others, during her 12year career as an Early Childhood Teacher. Throughout this time Naomi felt herself being drawn towards the children with the biggest emotions, and some of the most challenging behaviours. The children that others often found it hard to connect to. Naomi recognised that at times, behind a child's challenging behaviour, was a family that needed someone to hear, see and support them.

Based on her own life journey, and remembering creativity as a safe haven where she could go to heal, Naomi realised she needed to share this knowing to help others heal. She then supported parents/caregivers, educators, and children to develop creative tools for tough times. These tools supported people in recognising the onset of dysregulation, how to move through big emotions safely, and ways to regain emotional regulation again.

As a result of witnessing the immense benefits of these interactions, Naomi decided to become an Art Therapist.

Naomi holds a B.A honours in Early childhood Education, an Advanced diploma in Transpersonal art therapy, alongside training in identifying and responding to young people at risk, Domestic and family violence response, and Informed, sensitive, and responsive trauma practices.

What to expect

Before the first session you will be required to complete an intake form. From there, we will discuss what your goals are, and what you aim to achieve during our art therapy journey together.

Engaging in a one-one art therapy session we will check in first, acknowledging what is real for you in this moment and supporting you to become grounded and present. I will invite you into your own imagination using tools like meditation, poetry and/or story telling. Following on from this, you will then explore what has emerged for you, by expressing this new knowing in different ways depending on your own creative preferences. Using metaphor, mapping, symbols and imagery we will explore your creative expressions together, uncovering the truths your soul wishes to share with you.

What is transpersonal Art Therapy?

Transpersonal art therapy is essentially a path back to oneself. Transpersonal literally translates to "Beyond the mask", referring to the concept of going beyond ourselves the personal or the individual.

In transpersonal therapy we acknowledge and recognise that each person is a universe inside themselves, all with a mind, body, and spirit. Transpersonal therapy approaches individuals in a way that is client-centred (following your lead), and holistic (seeing you as a whole person, not just seeing your mental health needs).
