About Naomi

My name is Naomi O'Brien and I'm an ANZACATA registered Transpersonal art therapist based in Artarmon, Sydney, Australia. I hold a B.A. hons of Early Childhood Education, Adv. dip in Transpersonal Art therapy, certificates in responding to Domestic and family violence, and responding to trauma in young people. I am currently completing an internship with the internationally recognised, award winning, arts in health program Arterie at Chris O'Brien lifehouse and RPA hospital.

It was in my previous career as a teacher, that I realised, and utilised the power of creativity. Working with young children and a wide variety of families, I found myself consistently offering education on how to positively guide children's behaviour, and supporting overwhelmed parents/caregivers, and teachers. I realised that my work was taking me far outside the scope of teaching, and that people felt heard and understood when they spoke with me. Once I witnessed the benefits and success for families, children, and educators, of a creative and mindful approach, I found my calling; to be an art therapist.

I am passionate about creating a client centred environment. At ArtPeace Therapy I explore art in a safe, non-judgemental way, encouraging each clients personal growth and healing. When you choose to engage in art therapy with me, it is a partnership. We work together, traveling through the journey of you uncovering your own inner world, and all that this brings with it.

You do not need any artistic skills to engage with art therapy- you are welcome just as you are. Transpersonal art therapy uses your innate creativity as a safe way to express your inner world, develop awareness, growth, and healing. The focus of art therapy, is on the process rather than the outcome. I support you to learn how to listen to your art, and to see the hidden messages it presents for you.

One on One

All upcoming group workshops can be found here. Group workshops explore a range of themes, and involve creative prompts, meditation, and group sharing. The intention of group art therapy is to facilitate healing, encourage connection, community, and a sense of belonging.

individualised 1:1 sessions are offered online as a safe and supportive space for creative expression and reflection. These sessions offer you the time and space to both be with yourself in silence and to work collaboratively with me, exploring your creativity and expressing yourself freely.

Testimonials

"It has only been five weeks, and I have already seen so many life-changing outcomes"

"Naomi's approach is compassionate and empathetic. Facing these hard parts of life, and of myself, is probably the most challenging thing I have done. I have learned so much about myself and how I move through the world."

E.B.

"I feel so much happier now. I am happy I made the time and keep making the time to join the art therapy groups. I haven't done anything creative since I was a child, and I felt apprehensive. But, since joining I am so much more relaxed, and self-aware. Its just an hour and a half, for me to be connected".
